Multiple Disciplinary Team (MDT) is now widely applied in head and neck cancer treatment. Combined and sequential treatment of head and neck cancers is carried out by both the Department of Head and Neck Oncology at West China Hospital of Stomatology and the Department of Oncology (Head and Neck) at West China Hospital, with the former in charge of surgical treatment and the latter in charge of chemoradiotherapy. Regular consultation is conducted every week with new technologies provided to patients, such as intra-arterial chemotherapy and pump implant with superficial temporal artery intubation. Such treatment could achieve a nearly 70% cure rate for most head and neck cancers.

Besides, the MDT includes Tumor-Dental Implant, Tumor Orthognathic-Dental Implant, Tumor-Trauma-Orthognathic-Cleft Lip and Palate Groups. For one patient suffering jaw carcinoma disease, the team performed the surgery of partial mandibular resection, and simultaneous bone graft with implant restoration by using digital technology. This MDT work had both therapeutic and functional benefits, which greatly improved the patient’s occlusal function and living quality.
