Prof. Tan is the Party Secretary of West China School/Hospital of Stomatology, Sichuan University. She serves as the executive member of the Commissioned Hospitals Branch of the Chinese Association for Promotion on Health Ideology and Culture, the vice chairman of the fourth committee of the Humanities and Moral Development Committee of the Chinese Stomatological Doctor Association, and the vice chairman of the Hospital Party Building and Culture Specialized Committee of the Sichuan Hospital Association.

Prof. Tan has long been engaged in Party building in colleges and universities, hospital management, and medical humanities education. She has conducted research and led the Ministry of Education's Ideological and Political Work Projects about the Innovation and Reconstruction Model of Medical Humanities Quality Education under the Background of New Liberal Arts and New Medical Education, with several published articles on the subject.
