Oral mucosal disease is an independent discipline that systematically studies the etiology, pathogenesis, diagnosis, prevention, and treatment of oral mucosal diseases. It serves as an important clinical specialty within the field of stomatology, providing students with a foundation in the fundamental theories and clinical knowledge necessary for the diagnosis and treatment of common mucosal diseases. Due to its wide range of research subjects and close correlation with the general condition of individuals, oral mucosal disease serves as a bridge between oral medicine and other disciplines. This course will introduce the basic theoretical knowledge, the diagnosis ideas, clinical management strategies, new technologies and progress of clinical diagnosis and treatment for various common and complex oral mucosal diseases. It is designed to enhance postgraduate students' proficiency in the following areas, explicitly including the clinical thinking ability, clinical handling ability, clinical research ability, and humanistic medical quality. The course content generally includes basic theoretical knowledge, clinical diagnosis and treatment, case analysis and discussion. There are various teaching forms, for example, the lecture-based teaching which could provide students with a solid foundation in the basic theoretical knowledge of oral mucosal diseases through classroom lectures. Interactive learning is also one of the teaching methods, it encourages active participation in classroom discussions to encourage critical thinking. To better understand the knowledge, analyzing real-world cases helps students apply theoretical knowledge to practical situations and develop clinical reasoning skills. Through the above systematic learning of this course, the postgraduate students can master the fundamental principles of diagnosing and treatment of various common oral mucosal diseases. More importantly, they are expected to develop rigorous scientific attitudes, innovative research spirits, and good medical ethics. The primary objective of the course is to cultivate the postgraduate students to become clinical specialists and researchers in the field of oral mucosal disease, with a focus on both medical expertise and humanistic cultivation.
