2025 International Skills Competition of Dental Medicine Undergraduates successfully held by West China School of Stomatology, Sichuan University

The 2025 International Skills Competition of Dental Medicine Undergraduates was successfully held by West China School of Stomatology, Sichuan University on July 10th. The undergraduate dental students from 12 renowned universities of 11 countries and regions, including China, the United States, the United Kingdom, Japan, South Korea, and New Zealand, participated in the competition. 

The competition was judged by a panel of 10 experts from King's College London and other institutions. Focusing on core competency training objectives for undergraduate students majoring in stomatology, the event comprehensively assessed participants’ manual dexterity and clinical operational skills. Throughout the contest, competitors demonstrated exquisite skills and remarkable abilities. After intense competition, the teams from Sichuan University and Queen Mary University of London won the first prize. The teams from Chulalongkorn University, Tohoku University, Osaka Dental University, and University of Belgrade won the second prize. The teams from the University of California San Francisco, University of Otago, Moldova State University of Medicine and Pharmacy, Moscow State University of Dentistry, Seoul National University, and Universitas Indonesia, won the third prize. Additionally, three students were awarded individual prizes for their outstanding performances.

The successful hosting of this competition established a high-caliber international platform for exchange and mutual learning. It brought together teachers and students from leading dental schools worldwide to delve into techniques and share cutting-edge ideas. Furthermore, the competition provided participants with an invaluable hands-on platform. Working within an intensely competitive environment and under high standards, the students significantly enhanced their cross-cultural communication skills, teamwork efficiency, and practical innovation capabilities.

Moving forward, to further expand the influence and leadership of West China School of Stomatology, Sichuan University in international dental education, we will deepen and broaden global cooperation and exchanges, actively exploring long-term strategic partnerships with more world-class dental schools to advance the sharing of educational resources and collaborative innovation.
