The 2026 International Osteology Symposium (IOS), themed “Beyond Regeneration,” was held in Vienna, Austria, from April 23 to 25, 2026, bringing together leading experts in oral regeneration, periodontology, implant dentistry and maxillofacial fields.

Professor Yi Man from the Department of Oral Implantology, West China Hospital of Stomatology, Sichuan University, was invited to attend the symposium and served as the only jury member from Asia for the Osteology Foundation Case Competition. During the meeting, Professor Man exchanged insights with international experts on advanced regenerative treatments, complex bone defect reconstruction, soft- and hard-tissue management, digital implant dentistry and the training of young clinicians.

Waishan Lam, a PhD student in the Department of Oral Implantology, was selected as one of six global finalists in the Osteology Foundation Case Competition. As the only current PhD student among the finalists, she won first place in the Vertical and Horizontal Bone Augmentation category. Shuaitong Chen, another PhD student, presented a poster titled “Restoring Aged Macrophage Function Re-enables Scaffold-Driven Soft-Tissue Regeneration” at Research Networking Day.
