West China School of Stomatology, Sichuan University (WCSS SCU) co-hosted the 2026 International Symposium on Innovation and Future of Dental Education (ISIFDE 2026) in Chengdu on September 23–24, 2026 with, the Virtual Teaching and Research Section for Reform of Dental Talent Training Model, and the National Research Center for Educational Materials.

Prof. Ye Ling, Vice President of SCU and Symposium Chair, and Prof. Han Xianglong, Dean of WCSS and Executive Chair, gave opening remarks. Prof. Shen Jiefei, Associate Dean of WCSS, hosted the opening ceremony.

Experts from New Zealand, the Republic of Korea, Hong Kong SAR, Indonesia, Thailand, Switzerland, the United Kingdom, Cambodia, and other countries and regions shared their practices on future-oriented curriculum redesign, teaching innovation, and student competency development.

The symposium also featured teaching demonstrations. Prof. Michael Botelho (The University of HongKong, Faculty of Dentistry) presented a flipped-classroom demonstration lesson on fixed prosthodontics and exchanged ideas on teaching reform with WCSS faculty. Six early-career faculty members from Chulalongkorn University, Universitas Indonesia, and WCSS presented demonstrations on pediatric dentistry, prosthodontics, maxillofacial growth and development, and oral and maxillofacial surgery.

The symposium served as an important platform for collaborative and exchange between WCSS and the global dental education community. WCSS will continue to advance high-quality international cooperation and contribute to the global advances in dental education.
