The 2019 International Undergraduates’ Operating Skills Competition was grandly held in West China School of Stomatology

On July 11th, 2019, the 2019 International Undergraduates’ Operating Skills Competition, hosted by Stomatology Teaching Steering Committee of Ministry of Education and organized by our school, was grandly held. Nearly 100 dental undergraduates from 38 university teams from countries like China, the United States, Russia, the Netherlands, the United Kingdom, Japan, and Thailand participated in the competition. 17 experts from 8 different universities were invited as judges.

Combining the training goals of domestic and overseas dental undergraduates, the competition emphasized profession-competence-oriented, gradually increased the coverage of virtual simulation training technology, and comprehensively examined the basic skills and clinical operation skills of the contestants. In the competition, the players fully devoted themselves. After an intense competition, five teams from Osaka Dental University, Tianjin Medical University, Chongqing Medical University, Nanjing Medical University, and Southwest Medical University won the first prize. Eight teams from universities like Sichuan University, UCSF and China Medical University won the second prize. Twelve teams from universities like Wuhan University, Xi'an Jiaotong University, ACTA of the Netherlands, and Pacific University won the third prize. Seven students won individual awards.

This Competition has brought together many schools of stomatology to conduct on-site discussions and exchanges on stomatology skills. The successful holding of the competition is conducive to strengthen students’ communication skills, enhance students’ teamwork ability and innovation ability. At the same time, it promotes the in-depth integration of information technology with dental education, and further improves the educational quality for undergraduate of stomatology.
