On April 22, 2020, Professor Man Yi, the director of the Department of Oral Implantology of our hospital, was invited to participate in a global online conference organized by the European Association for Osseointegration (EAO), one of the world's largest oral implant associations, introducing epidemic prevention and control measures of West China Hospital of Stomatology, dental implant diagnoses and treatment, and response strategies.

As the virus spreads globally, the global dental healthcare system has been affected to varying degrees. Since the very beginning of the epidemic, our hospital has actively adopted measures such as improving patient flow, pooling resources, strengthening screening measures, and reasonable protection to support pandemic control. Besides that, our hospital also develops hospital standard operating procedures to address highly contagious diseases. To ensure the oral health of the people, the Department of Emergency worked 24 hours a day during the entire epidemic prevention and control period to ensure immediate and effective diagnosis and treatment of critical oral diseases. Emergency adjustments were made to routine outpatient and hospital admission procedures, and free online consultation services were urgently introduced. Medical staffs were on duty onsite and online to respond to patients’ needs on time. With the gradual improvement of the domestic epidemic situation, the medical work of our hospital has basically returned to normal. Professor Man Yi introduced the above-mentioned response measures and the outcome of our hospital at different development stages of the COVID-19 crisis to all the dental professionals from around the world during the meeting, modeling excellence in combating COVID-19.

The conference was released to the world and broke the records for the most number of views and the highest number of speakers ever on the EAO live broadcast platform. As a national public hospital, our hospital has been earnestly practicing the concept of a community with a shared future for humanity. Under the current severe situation of the COVID-19 crisis, our hospital has continuously strengthened the bond and cooperation with dental colleges and medical institutions worldwide, contributing the wisdom and strength of West China College of Stomatology to combating the global crisis.
