Jun Wang, a young investigator from the Department of Periodontics, was presented with the Korean Academy of Periodontology Travel Award at the Annual Meeting in Seoul, South Korea, October 20–21, 2018.

The Travel Award is given annually to one international young investigator in Periodontics who is conducting innovative research in the field. Dr. Wang gave a ten-minute oral presentation on his project, “A Novel Role of Periostin-Sost-Wnt Signaling Pathways in Periodontal Homeostasis”, to a panel of judges and was named the winner. This work was mentored by Dr. Jerry Feng (Texas A&M University Baylor College of Dentistry) and Dr. Yafei Wu (SCU West China School of Stomatology).

During his time at SCU West China School of Stomatology, Dr. Wang also received the world Chinese Association of Dental Research (wCADR) young investigator award at the IADR annual meeting.
