International Journal of Oral Science (CN: 51-1707/R, ISSN: 1674-2818) was founded in 2009 and aims to publish all aspects of oral science and interdisciplinary fields, including basic, applied and clinical research. Areas that are covered include but are not limited to: oral microbiology, oral and maxillofacial oncology, cariology, oral inflammation and infection, dental stem cells and regenerative medicine, craniofacial surgery, dental materials, oral biomechanics, oral, dental and maxillofacial genetic and developmental diseases, craniofacial bone research, craniofacial-related biomaterials, tempromandibular joint disorder and osteoarthritis.

International Journal of Oral Science is led by Editor-in-Chief Professor Xuedong Zhou from Sichuan University and the Honorary Editor-in-Chief Professor Cun-yu Wang from University of California at Los Angeles. The Executive Editors-in-Chief are also composed of international top researchers in oral science. International Editorial Board spans the breadth of the coverage of the journal.

International Journal of Oral Science is co-published with Springer Nature. It is now abstracted & indexed by Science Citation Index Expanded (SCIE), Journal Citation Reports/Science Edition, PubMed Central (PMC), MEDLINE, Scopus and Directory of Open Access Journals (DOAJ), Google Scholar, Center for Agriculture and Bioscience International (CABI) and Index Copernicus (IC). According to the newly released Impact Factor in 2023, International Journal of Oral Science ranks No.2 in Dentistry, Oral Surgery & Medicine.
