In 2012, the National Engineering Laboratory for Oral Regenerative Medicine at Sichuan University was approved by the National Development and Reform Commission. The center spans approximately 2,000 m² and includes facilities such as 10,000-level and 100-level purification laboratories, a biomaterials preparation and analysis laboratory, a morphology detection and analysis laboratory, a molecular biology laboratory, and a digital surgery center.

The center comprises a team of 50 members, including professors, clinical experts, researchers, graduate students, and management professionals. It has established departments such as the council, technical committee, laboratory director, and laboratory office. A high-level tissue engineering platform and a talent training base have also been developed.

The laboratory conducts research on dental tissue engineering, tooth regeneration technologies, stem cell clinical applications, digital repair technologies for dental and maxillofacial regions, and oral biomaterials engineering. Additionally, the laboratory has gained significant experience in translating basic research into clinical applications, forming its unique characteristics.

In 2017, the center passed the assessment of the Innovation and Capacity Building Project of the National Engineering Laboratory for Oral Regenerative Medicine and became a recognized innovation base for basic and applied research as well as education in the field of oral regenerative medicine.
